BRYANT BELL MOVES CLOSER TO WMR CHAMPIONSHIP WITH INAUGURAL KERN WIN

BAKERSFIELD, CALIFORNIA (October 26, 2024) – Western Midget Racing made its inaugural Kevin Harvick’s Kern Raceway Dirt Track appearance with a familiar winner, with 2023 champion Bryant Bell of Oakley charging to his eighth victory of the season and extending his 2024 points lead. Bell will enjoy a 20-point lead heading into Saturday’s championship race at Ventura Raceway.

Delano’s Terry Nichols and Santa Cruz’ Logan Mitchell split the eight-lap heat races on the one-third mile dirt track west of Bakersfield, racing during the famed October Classic weekend.

Mesa, Ariz.’s Gary DeWitt started on the pole after a six-car inversion and led the first two circuits. Third-starting Bell rocketed up into the lead by lap three. DeWitt fell into a battle with San Jose’s Anthony Bruno and Mitchell for second. Mitchell seized second by lap 13 but had a 4.5 second deficit to Bell at that point.

Bell maintained the advantage over the second half of the feature, blitzing to a 4.1 second victory worth $500 during the final weekend of the Triple Crown Series as well. Bell was followed by Mitchell, Bruno, DeWitt, and Nate Wait of Lodi.

The 2024 Western Midget Racing series concludes on Saturday night from Ventura Raceway with a $1,200 to win feature and will also crown the $1,000 to win Triple Crown champion and $1,000 to win series champion. Boscacci Racing teammates Anthony Bruno and Bryant Bell lead the Triple Crown and WMR series respectively heading into the finale at the seaside speedway.

VRA Sprint Cars, Senior Sprints, Lightning Sprints, and Junior Classes will also be racing. Grandstands open at 3pm with action by 5:30pm. For more info visit www.VenturaRaceway.com
